{"id":338,"date":"2012-04-24T14:25:00","date_gmt":"2012-04-24T02:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ysaindia.org\/wordpress\/?p=338"},"modified":"2012-04-09T12:13:30","modified_gmt":"2012-04-09T00:13:30","slug":"yog-mudras","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ysaindia.org\/wordpress\/2012\/04\/yog-mudras\/","title":{"rendered":"Yog Mudras"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the ancient times, Lord Shiva is considered the originator of the Hatha Yoga, Who divided this divine knowledge into following seven sections:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/ysaindia.org\/wordpress\/category\/hathayoga\/shatkarma\/\">Shat karma<\/a> <\/em>(Six Cleansings) <\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/ysaindia.org\/wordpress\/category\/hathayoga\/asanas\/\">Asana<\/a> <\/em>(Postures) <\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/ysaindia.org\/wordpress\/category\/hathayoga\/mudras\/\">Mudras<\/a><\/em> <\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/ysaindia.org\/wordpress\/category\/hathayoga\/pranayama\/\">Pranayama<\/a> <\/em>(breathing exercises) <\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/ysaindia.org\/wordpress\/category\/hathayoga\/pratyahara\/\">Pratyahara<\/a> <\/em>(Control of senses) <\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/ysaindia.org\/wordpress\/category\/hathayoga\/dhyana\/\">Dhyana<\/a> <\/em>(Meditation) <\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/ysaindia.org\/wordpress\/category\/hathayoga\/samadhi\/\">Samadhi<\/a><\/em> (a state of contemplation or trance) <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>Every method has its definite purpose. <em>Shat karma <\/em>for cleansing , <em>Asanas <\/em>for rigidity or strengthening body, <em>Mudras <\/em>for stability, <em>Pranayama <\/em>for lightness, <em>Pratyahara <\/em>for tolerance, <em>Dhyana <\/em>for self-realization and <em>Samadhi <\/em>for <em>moksha <\/em>or liberation.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p><em>Mudra <\/em>may be described as an asana with meditation at a particular point for a longer duration. There are twenty-one yoga mudras and their purpose is to attain stability in yogic way of life. Our purpose here is to provide a common knowledge of the <em>mudras <\/em>to readers. With the proper practice of <em>mudras <\/em>one can achieve <em>pratyahara<\/em>, the <em>pranas <\/em>rise up and the <em>Kundalini <\/em>is awakened.
